mLINQS commends the Government Accountability Office (GAO) Report (here) which states that the Department of Defense (DoD) "needs more complete and consistent data to assess the costs and policies of relocating."  The report also concludes that permanent change of station (PCS) costs are rising within DoD; however, DoD does not have the information necessary to assess the causes and improve the PCS process. mLINQS system is a natural fit for DoD to improve their PCS data collection and analysis, just as our system has assisted many federal agencies over the past decade.

The GAO report follows a trend in the federal government where policy makers have long criticized their process for employee PCS. In 2011, the President's "Executive Order - Promoting Efficient Spending" (here). ordered that "each agency should review its policy associated with domestic civilian permanent change of duty station travel (relocations), to identify ways to reduce costs and ensure appropriate controls are in place." The Order also reminded government to be "a good steward of taxpayer money" by "cutting waste in Government spending and identifying opportunities to promote efficient and effective spending." Specifically, the administration requires each agency to focus on their travel spend by designating a "senior level official to be responsible for developing and implementing policies and controls to ensure efficient spending on travel."

"In both of these documents, the GAO Report and the Executive Order, we see that efficient spending is a must in government," says Greg McIntyre, President of mLINQS, LLC. "Our relocation management solution is already providing customers with the necessary tools to fully comply with the Executive Order and to support DoD in remedying the issues identified in the GAO Report."
